Change affects everything and the creepy Clown Motel in Tonopah, Nevada is no different.  After two decades of managing this freaky tourist court the owner is putting the motel on the real estate market–for a mere $900,000.00.  The catch is: The new owner must keep the clowns.

For those readers unfamiliar with the area, the clowns are really the only attraction.  Tonopah, Nevada, home to the office that collects the property taxes for Nye County, has under 2,500 residents and is set in, well for lack of a better description, the middle of nowhere.  The motel, perfectly situated on the main exit road between an interstate exchange, is the town’s claim to fame. (It is also adjacent to a cemetery, which only serves to add to the creepiness mystique.)

As the Clown Motel has become legend and is responsible for a steady flow of curiosity seekers into this quaint little village it is to the current owner’s credit that he has created a contract requiring status quo for the creepy lodging.  You can get it for under a million, but the clowns keeping watch in every room must stay.

One big plus for the Clown Motel that the new owner will hopefully continue is that it allows pets to stay as guests with their human owners.  A plus, that is, if you can get your pet to actually stay in the punchinello protected room overnight.  My dog wouldn’t stop barking long enough to even get out of the car.

Other perks the new owner will hopefully keep include the fact that bikers and truckers are welcome, the rooms are dirt cheap, the internet connections are free, and you get Dish-TV.  Needed upgrades aside, the motel is a great investment for someone who wants a ready-made, guaranteed tourist trap–replete with creepy appendages.
