It’s exhausting just thinking about it, but if you have the strength, check out what researchers have discovered users are doing every single minute on the internet…
“According to data compiled by Lori Lewis and published on the site AllAccess, 60 seconds on the web in 2021 consist of more than 500 hours of content uploaded on YouTube, 695,000 stories shared on Instagram and nearly 70 million messages sent via WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. That same internet minute also contains more than two million swipes on Tinder as well as an incredible 1.6 million U.S. dollars spent online.” (source)

And even after all of that distracting activity (or perhaps because of it), Americans are apparently still unable to block out their demons. According to a recent study conducted by the prescription drug industry, there were more than 3.4 million Americans who filled at least one prescription at a U.S. pharmacy for an antidepressant, anti-anxiety or anti-insomnia medication in (pre-covid) 2019. Nearly 300,000 patients filled prescriptions for all three types of medications. (source) The real genius will be the person that designs an app that offers thrills, chills and pills. Then we will see what 60 seconds on the internet can really do.
