Book Reception and Exhibit: Rolling Stones Magazine Photog Book- Greenwich, Connecticut

Rolling Stone magazine photographer Baron Wolman will appear at an opening reception of his work at the C. Parker Gallery in Greenwich from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 1. Wolman is known for his images of music icons, including the likes of Jimi Hendrix, his neighbor Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, The Who, Frank Zappa, Jim Morrison, Johnny Cash, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Santana, and Bob Dylan. His photos appeared in the first issue of Rolling Stone in October 1967, and his work appeared on 22 covers. Wolman will also meet the public in appearances at the gallery on Friday, Nov. 2, and Nov. 3. In addition to his famous photographs, he will debut his new limited edition, deluxe-signed book featuring photos the late Jimi Hendrix taken at the Fillmore West in February 1968. Book sale: Greenwich, Connecticut

The Friends of the Byram Shubert Library will hold their huge semi-annual Book and Media Sale from Thursday, Nov. 1, through Sunday, Nov. 4, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 55 William St. W., Byram. More than 40,000 items – including bestsellers, volumes on gardening, history, art, design, business, and more – are available for purchase at wonderful prices. There is a special room set aside for children’s books. Thursday’s preview from 5 to 8 p.m., with $20 entry fee, offers the first chance to choose from the collection. There is no entry fee on the following days: from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, with the bag and box sale when shoppers can fill bags or a box at significantly reduced prices. BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana’s annual book festival will celebrate 15 years when it’s held in mid-November.  The free celebration of readers and writers is set for Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Louisiana State Capitol, state library, Capitol Park Museum and surrounding grounds.

More than 250 authors and presenters will discuss books during the day and sign their books in a nearby tent. Among the writers scheduled to attend include Pulitzer Prize winner Jack E. Davis, legendary local author Ernest Gaines and New Orleans chef and Top Chef contestant Isaac Toups. The festival also includes storytelling for children, live musical performances and cooking demonstrations.

Notable literary names to participate in Mumbai LitFest this November

The four-day long Mumbai LitFest is scheduled to open on November 15 with participation of over 100 top writers, intellectuals and performers.

Booker Prize winning author Alan Hollinghurst; Stephen Daldry, Director of ‘The Crown’ on Netflix; Sri Lankan writer Ashok Ferrey; along with prominent names from Indian literary circles including Shashi Tharoor, Upamanyu Chatterjee (writer of the iconic ‘English, August’), RTI activist Aruna Roy and poet Jayanta Mahapatra, will participate in the 9th Tata Literature Live! The Mumbai LitFest in November.

The four-day long festival is scheduled to open on November 15 with participation of over a 100 top writers, intellectuals and performers spanning a multitude of genres from around the world, an official said on Monday…

Among the other prominent international names announced are: David Ebershoff (author of the award-winning ‘The Danish Girl’), Mexican author Albert Ruy-Sanchez, former BBC India chief Mark Tully, British art historian and ex-director of National Gallery and British Musuem Neil MacGregor, and science-economics writer Matt Ridley.
